World Soil Day
Soils play a fundamental role in agricultural development, ecosystem regulation, and food security. More than 95% of our food depends directly on this vital connection to the soil.
Yet, faced with climate change and the impact of human activities, our soils are deteriorating. Erosion disrupts their natural balance, reduces water infiltration, and limits its availability for all forms of life.
This is why the Fondation Chrétiens pour le Sahel has been committed for over 40 years to supporting projects that promote sustainable soil management. In practical terms, our actions aim to:
Reduce erosion and pollution through techniques adapted to the Sahelian context,
• Improve water infiltration and storage,
• Preserve biodiversity and soil fertility by promoting agroecological practices,
• Contribute to carbon sequestration, thereby helping to combat climate change.
Together, we can bring life back to the soil and hope to Sahel communities.
