The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2026

Ecole Primaire de Sankara 32

In a world endowed with unprecedented resources and economic capacity, extreme poverty continues to affect millions of people. This reality represents one of the greatest ethical and humanitarian challenges of our time. Ending poverty is not merely an objective; it is an essential prerequisite for building a sustainable future and ensuring that everyone can fully exercise their fundamental rights.

Poverty is often linked to multiple factors, including lack of employment opportunities, social exclusion, and vulnerability to crises and climate change. Without determined action, millions of people, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, may still be living in extreme poverty by 2030. Reducing inequalities and strengthening people's participation in decisions that affect their lives are therefore crucial to promoting social cohesion, stability, and sustainable development.

The Commitment of the Fondation Chrétiens pour le Sahel

It is at the heart of these challenges that the Fondation Chrétiens pour le Sahel carries out its mission. Through practical projects implemented in Burkina Faso and Senegal, we support the most vulnerable communities by focusing on the following priority areas:

  • Access to safe drinking water and sanitation;

  • Sustainable agriculture and food security;

  • Education and vocational training.

By placing community empowerment and resilience to climate-related challenges at the center of its mission, the Foundation takes concrete action on the ground to combat poverty and to build, together with local populations, a more dignified and supportive future.
