International Day of Plant Health

Protecting plant health can help eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and preserve biodiversity and the environment, while also promoting economic development.

Plants provide nearly 98% of the oxygen we breathe and 80% of the food we consume. Yet every year, pests and diseases destroy up to 40% of agricultural crops, seriously undermining the food and nutritional security of populations, particularly in the most vulnerable regions.

Aware of these challenges, the Fondation Chrétiens pour le Sahel pays special attention to promoting ecological crop protection, an essential condition for sustainable, resilient agriculture that respects the environment and rural communities.
