International Day for Women and Girls of African Descent

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls of African Descent, it is important to recognize that many women and girls still face significant discrimination linked to their gender and socio-economic circumstances. These barriers often restrict their access to education, healthcare, employment, and positions of public responsibility. Despite these challenges, they demonstrate remarkable resilience and make vital contributions to the development of their communities.

To bring about lasting change, it is essential to invest in education, training, health, and women's leadership, while actively combating stereotypes and discrimination. Empowering women and girls is not only a matter of human rights but also a key driver of sustainable development and social progress.

This call for action directly reflects the commitments of the Fondation Chrétiens pour le Sahel. Working closely with rural communities in Burkina Faso and Senegal, we implement practical initiatives that promote access to education, improve hygiene and health awareness, support income-generating activities, and strengthen the role of women within Sahelian communities. Through its projects, the Foundation helps provide women and young girls with the tools, skills, and opportunities they need to become true agents of change in their families and communities.
